In Jon Moscow’s reductive paintings from the series Half Stories for Complete People , human legs and their accessories are truncated into crude shapes. A wide, pink vertical stripe is roughly painted down the center of a white canvas, a small thin blue line appears as the profile of a trainer, below that a horizontal brown line becomes the sole of the shoe, finally the ground is suggested at the bottom of the canvas with a second horizontal line of paint, this time grey. Each minimal mark helps to define the next in this pared back representation.
Jon Moscow lives and works in London and received his MFA from Goldsmiths. Recent exhibitions include, A work a day, MOT International, London; When transcendence becomes form, KhG Contemporary, Bonn; Pilot Projekt_1, Pilot Projekt Kunstverein, Dusseldorf.
