Membership in MOT is open to museum managers, curators and other individuals who have leading roles in museums and who are open to cooperation with their colleagues from other countries. This has already been mentioned a couple of times, but MOT International has members from England, Belgium, Netherlands and France, so far least. MOT stands for Museums of Technology, and most of our membership does consists of members who are heads of technical museums, but recently we’ve started seeing a trend of officials from other types of museums getting in touch with us and wanting to join MOT.

That is part of the reason why we made the decision to make membership at MOT possible to all heads of museum, regardless of the type of museum that they are running. Basic principles on which museums function are the same regardless of their type, so it doesn’t make sense to exclude our colleagues from art museums, or history museums or any other type of museums that exists out there. Anybody who is interested in exchanging ideas, cooperating and improving is welcome to join MOT International.

To join MOT you just have to get in touch with our head office in Brussels. We are also going to have a MOT International workshop, our annual shindig, where will get together, have lectures, training sessions and talk with one another to learn more interesting techniques about successful museum leadership. If you want to learn what it’s like to be a MOT member but you don’t want to join, we suggest that you visit our workshop and get a feel for things. It’s an excellent method for finding out what it’s like to be a MOT member without actually joining. Membership has a lot of benefits and the only drawback is that you have to travel, if you can call that a drawback. Get in touch and see what all the fuss about MOT International membership is.
